Out Cold is one of those movies that is smarter than it lets on. It very subtly incorporates the story beats from Casablanca into its plot structure and keeps the laughs coming with witty dialog and some shocking sight gags. At its core it is a statement on gentrification and how it can ruin the very thing it is trying to preserve.
